The Jeux de la Francophonie are a combination artistic and sports events held every four years since 1989, partly as a counterweight to the  Commonwealth Games. They are open to athletes and artists of the 56  (Click link for more info and facts about Francophonie) Francophonie member nations. Attendance has so far varied between 6,500 and 15,000 athletes and artists
